FarmHouse Bids Chapter-Record 36 Potentials in Rush Week
On Wednesday, the Brothers of FarmHouse Fraternity at Troy University came together in discussion of bidding new potential members to their fraternity following Rush Week. In total, the Brotherhood gave bids to 36 new potential members, the largest incoming pledge class in the Chapter’s 29-year history.
“I am honestly thrilled about how rush has shaken out this year. When we were elected back in December, Jake Rebis and I decided that our goal was not to get a large quantity of pledges, but instead focus on the quality of the guys we are recruiting,” Vice President of Recruitment Bradley Smith said. “We had a ton of support from the brotherhood throughout this whole process from impact to summer rush events to actual rush week. We never could have done any of this without the help from every one of our brothers.”
Led by Smith and Jake Rebis, FarmHouse accumulated the most pledges on the row for the first time in five years. Dating back to the fall of 2020, FarmHouse has compiled 17, 19, 29, and 27-member pledge classes, also known as the Beta Pi, Sigma, Upsilon, and Chi pledge classes.
Throughout the summer, Smith, Rebis, and Recruitment Assistants Drew Wells, Anthony Boyer, Gabe Pemberton, and Andrew Galloway did their part in reaching out to potential new members and inviting them to FarmHouse’s three Rush Events in Troy, Huntsville, and Birmingham.
In addition, Smith and Rebis created eight different events for Rush Week and potential new members, spanning from August 14-21. Ranging from sports tournaments such as Pickleball, Basketball, Pool, and Ping Pong, to their annual Beach Trip and Slip N’ Slide and Cookout, several potential new members were invited to the house to meet with brothers and spend time with fellow potential new members.
“Rush events are crucial to attracting potential new members to our fraternity”, Rebis said. “Once they are there, they can see what a great brotherhood we have and hopefully make the best decision of their life and rush FarmHouse.”
On Monday, August 26, everyone who accepted their bid from FarmHouse will officially be pinned in FarmHouse’s annual Star Ceremony. The Star Ceremony will serve as the start of the pledge classes’ new member education, an eight-week program designed to better a new member’s understanding of FarmHouse and its members. The Star Ceremony is planned so that candidates for membership are prepared for their education and have a favorable mental attitude.
“The thing I’m most excited about this fall is not that we have a lot of pledges, but that we have a great group of guys,” Smith said. “Every single one of our pledges is a quality dude and that makes me excited for the years to come in this amazing brotherhood.”
