Troy FH Alumnus Nick Abraham named CEO of Amwins Global Risks

Nick Abraham, an alumnus of the Alpha Pi Chapter of FarmHouse Fraternity at Troy University, has been promoted to CEO of Amwins Global Risks. Abraham, the former Executive Vice President and branch leader for Amwins Brokerage in the US, is set to take over for Nate Mathis in January of 2025.

Before taking over as CEO, Abraham has worked in the Amwins’ Brokerage Division leadership team since November 2021. Abraham has also held several leadership positions with Markel, working with the company for 17 years.

‘‘Nick has made a substantial impact across the Brokerage Division and truly embodies the Amwins servant leadership culture,” said Scott Purviance, the Chief Executive Officer of Amwins Group Inc. “His experience on the carrier side, combined with his wholesale broking knowledge, make him an ideal choice to lead the continued expansion of our London operation.’’

A native of Prattville, Abraham graduated magna cum laude with his bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance from Troy. During his time at Troy, Abraham served in various leadership roles, including the Student Government Association President, a Trojan Ambassador and an IMPACT Leader. Abraham also served as FarmHouse’s Vice President of Recruitment from 2001-2003.

Meanwhile, Mathis, who has served in several leadership roles in London for six years, including three as CEO, will rejoin Amwins in Charlotte and will continue to focus on select key growth initiatives of the company. As CEO, Mathis helped establish Amwins Global Risks as the leading independent Lloyd’s broker, representing over $3 billion in placed premium.
